1. It frustrates me when I get to the restaurant I work at and begin preparing to make the desserts only soon to find out that all of the ingredients I need are in different places than they were the week before.
-Why does this exist? Because my co-workers have OCD.
2. It bugs me when I am walking to class and every single person I walk by has his/her head down staring at their phone instead of looking at the beautiful day around them!
-Why does this exist? Because technology has taken over people's lives and their ability to be social and enjoy the world around themselves.
3. It bothers me when people leave their carts in the parking lots after grocery shopping...is it really that difficult to walk your cart back to the cart rack inside the store? If each person would just return their cart, it would make someone else's job a lot easier.
-Why does this exist? Because people are lazy.
4. It bugs me when I ask for ketchup at a fast food restaurant and they give me 25 packets (slight exaggeration), but really.. so wasteful!!
-Why does this exist? Because people are wasteful.
5. When I''m working and there is an angry customer, it bothers me when they take out all of their anger on me...like I'm the one who undercooked your burger or put rainwater on your seat! I know how to nicely handle those customers, but seriously, people need to be more understanding.
-Why does this exist? Because some people always believe there is someone they can blame or talk down to.
6. It bothers me when my cat wakes me up at 4 am every single morning by meowing and purposely pouncing across my chest.
-Why does this exist? Because my cat has ADHD and gets pleasure out of annoying me.
7. It bothers me when people (my roommates) buy half ripened avocados and forget to put them in the fridge when they ripen so then they are overripe and rotten. Selfish!!
-Why does this exist? Because I don't believe in avocado abuse.
8. It bothers me when people post multiple pictures on social media each day of them exploring or modeling at the beach...I mean is your life actually like that? And if so, does it add meaning to your life to show everyone whenever you find the perfect seashell or drink out of a coconut? Don't get me started.
-Why does this exist? Because in this technological era, people think they need to share everything with everyone to make their lives seem "cool."
9. It bothers me when my roommates don't clean and squeeze out the sponge before placing it back above the sink; moldy sponges are the absolute worst.
-Why does this exist? Because I hate the smell of moldy sponges.
10. It bothers me when people (boys especially) get super upset during a pick-up basketball game. I mean, really, this isn't the national championship, quit calling everything as a foul and have some fun.
-Why does this exist? Because some guys have too big of an ego to get schooled by a girl.
11. It bugs me when people leave empty toilet paper rolls on the toilet paper holder. Just put on a new roll!!
-Why does this exist? Most people are lazy or also don't have OCD like I do.
12. It bothers me when people look down on my major and ask "there's actually a degree for that?" Yes. There is.
-Why does this exist? Because some people think doctors and engineers are the only successful people in the world and aren't aware of alternate paths of success. (I said some.)
13. It bothers me when someone rides my tail on the highway or any roadway.
-Why does this exist? Because people have road rage.
14. When restaurant customers ask everything that is in or on a menu item and what all the sides are instead of looking at the menu to find something they really want.
-Why does this exist? Some people don't know how to read? That was rude, sorry.
15. It bothers me when people chew gum really loudly and open their mouths while they are chewing.
-Why does this exist? I guess because I was taught to chew with my mouth closed.
16. It really bugs me when the floor is soaking wet after someone else gets out of the shower. Come on, dry off at least your feet before you step out onto the rug or floor!!
-Why does this exist? I have no idea.
17. It bothers me when I see families who are out to eat and every one of their children is playing on an iPad or phone. What ever happened to talking during family dinners?
-Why does this exist? Technology.
18. It bothers me when my roommates leave their clothes in the laundry for hours. Then they end up smelling and have to be washed again.
-Why does this exist? Because I set times to do laundry and get frustrated when I can't use the washer or dryer when I need to. And because I hate the smell of mold.
19. It bothers me when I'm standing with a friend and they begin talking with a person I don't know and don't introduce me. Help me not be awkward please.
-Why does this exist? Not everyone feels the need to be introduced when in this situation, but for some reason it really bothers me.
20. It bugs me when people fill up their water cups at a restaurant and then don't drink the water that they poured themselves.
- Why does this exist? Because I believe in sustainability.
Reflection:
I found this exercise somewhat challenging because in the beginning of writing it, I didn't think that many things bothered me. After thinking about things that bother me for a while, however, I realized that actually quite a few things (little things) bother me. I ended up getting on a roll of things that bug me, and had a lot of fun coming up with some of them. I also thought it was fun coming up with the reasons why the bugs exist.
Hey Jennie,
ReplyDeleteI loved reading your bug list, it was so funny and highly accurate! I think I felt a special kinship towards you when I read #7... YES. #savethecados
I also understood your frustration towards people's obsession with technology and that resulting in them missing out on beautiful moments. Granted, I'm sure I'm often guilty of this myself, but I try to be aware of that and make sure I'm fully immersed in an experience. I too am a victim of never being introduced - it's annoying because I always introduce people that are with me! The only way to truly eliminate this "bug" is to just step in and introduce yourself, that's what I do - then your friends will also become more aware that they didn't do that to begin with!
I feel some of our "bugs" are similar, we both definitely get frustrated with people and our surroundings. Probably not a good thing to be so irritated with people.. Oh well.
If you want to check out my rant as well, here's the link to my list: http://marissaent3003.blogspot.com/2016/01/my-bug-list.html
Hope you're having a great semester so far!
Marissa
P.S. Sorry about the tailgating... That was probably me 90% of the time. Guilty of the rage.
Extremely interesting post.
ReplyDeleteI hate getting all of those ketchups myself.
let the cat out to go when it wakes you up.
You could put a rug in the bathroom to soak up some of the water.Technology is making life very impersonal.
